About Zeke's Web
A Gaming group had a GM that created a notebook full of maps, races, calendars, and all the other pieces of a fictional world called Kayliss. The group strubled with the fact that when one person had the notebook, others couldn't look at it.
About the same time the campaign we were playing in that world had several long lived characters, one of which was named Zeke. Zeke was a inquisitive gnome with a photographic memory. Because the player running Zeke (me) didn't have a photographic memory, he started keeping a notebook of all the little details the party came across. Every name, place, recipie, tavern, adventure notes, etc was written down in the book.
Eventually we realized this was a treasure trove of information that was being created, and it would be very usefull to have this all online so that everyone could access it. And indeed if others outside our group came across it they might find it usefull as well. So it was put up on a website at koopa.org.
One major deficiency of the website was that only the owner had access to change or upload anything. The owner played with different options utilizing pearl scripts, java, etc but nothing was easy to use, or had all the functionality the group wanted.
Eventually when that campaign ended and other games came and went we started putting up data for the other games we played. Then we started drifting away from it, and one day when the domain came up for renewal, it was not.
Years later, during a slow night shift of computer support he stumbled across Google Sites, which allowes not only the owner, but any registered user to edit the site. Immediatly he registered a new domain name Zeke's Web was reborn.
